This Monday, The 8th Style School of Tango will begin a Men's Following class. Carol Smith & Bill Juzwiak will be teaching the class. Our aim is to give men a different perspective on the dance and to expand possibilities. It is not simply a class on "how to follow" or "how to dance the woman's role." It is meant, instead to open doorways to help us dance better in all situations. Ultimately, we hope the class will enhance the ability of the students to give their partners the best dance possible.
Class will be held in the University District). You can register and get more information at http://www.the8thstyle.com.
Purposes:
1) To better understand our dance partners, enabling us to be better leaders
2) To practice with, and be “feedback machines” for, our male colleagues
3) To practice skills that make us better dancers, regardless of role
4) To dance the woman’s role socially
Schedule:
Week 1: Walking backward & staying connected, the cross, introduction to volcada
Week 2: The back-side-cross (milonguero) turn and the molinete (classic salon)
Week 3: Forward and backward ochos, the woman’s embrace, social issues
Week 4: Boleos, and why every man must follow them
Week 5: The woman’s open and forward sacadas
